In November 1999 the Club members and wives gathered at Tedworth House in Tidworth, near Andover to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the granting of the Club's Charter.

Guests included :

the Mayor of Test Valley (Councillor Marion Kerley) and the Assistant Governor of District 1110 (Alan Hollands)

the Presidents of the Rotary Clubs of:

  • Salisbury (Nigel Brooks)
  • Amesbury (Clive Barnwell)
  • Andover Anton (Nick Hopwood)
  • Hardenberg in The Netherlands (Henk Hamhuis)

and the Presidents of:

  • Andover Inner Wheel Club (Mrs Daphne Bevan)
  • Andover Rotaract Club (Claire Burgess)
  • Andover Round Table (Andrew Bulpitt)
Andover Rotary Club 50th AnniversaryTo mark the occasion, President Richard Evans awarded a Paul Harris Fellowship to Mrs. Isabel Colebrook in recognition of her services to the community and in particular to Inner Wheel, the British Red Cross and the Girl Guide Association.

Richard also presented each member of the Andover Rotary Club with a copy of the original Charter from 1949.

One Rotarian, Cyril Berry, spanned the years by being present in both 1949 and 1999. Cyril was a young reporter with the Andover Advertiser and attended the dinner in 1949 to report on the Charter presentation. The following year he joined the Rotary Club and attended as a Rotarian in 1999.
